I was doing some disk utility stuff this evening and noticed some partitions on my drive which I'd never noticed before. Being a bit suspicious, I attempted to erase these.
When I rebooted I'm greeted by the usual sophos log in screen, which I get every time I boot up (asking for my user name and password).
However now when I put in the same user name and password I get this error - 'Failed to Boot!' (14).
Going to the troubleshooting options (navigating using TAB) also is no help. The 'Recover' option simply says 'failed to locate authentication data' (3)', the 'decrypt partition' also fails with the error 'decryption failed (3)'. Showing the log reveals various errors including 's gpoa - logic: Authentication backup not found' and 'utilslib: sgPutNvStorage: ESA Partition not found'. I also get a 'failed to export log! (3)' error when trying to export this.
This must all stem from my attack on the mysterious partitions which (as I now know) Sophos was using to store various data which it needed.
Is there a way of rebuilding this or repairing it? HELP!!!
At the moment I cannot log into the machine and it's totally useless and the Sophos screen is the first thing I see on boot up and I can't get past it.
Any help with with would be greatly appreciated, as I urgently need to access this machine!!!
