Quarantine

I have three threatsin Quarantine, but 2 require manual deletion (which I don't think I am upto, though I have found the instructions page) and the third did not delete when I selected 'clean up'. Is it safe to leave the malware indefinitely in quarantine?  I also have Timemachine but no idea how to discover whether Timemachine has picked up the malware. Any advice will be gratefully received.

    I'm having a similar problem - for a month it's been telling me I have threats but when I unlock and then click "clean up threat" it runs, but the threat is still in the list.  (I have Mac OS X version 10.7.5.)  I also have Symantec on this machine, and it doesn't find any of these threats.  What's going on and what should I do?
