Sophos 8.0.11C crashes my Macbook Air running Mountain Lion 10.8.2

Sophos seems to get stuck at about 80% in local drive scan and the whole system crashes completely without error logs.

I've shut down all other programs, connections, wifi, turned off time machine (no other drives connected than the internal system HD), but nothing happens: the whole computer becomes unresponsive and needs a restart. After that Sophos says that local scan hasn't been run.

Anyone else? I'd like to have this solved, otherwise I'll just have to ditch and dis Sophos for now.

  • Hey there Pekka,

Curious what came of this situation for you, as my Mac Mini running 10.8.3 has been plagued with kernel panics.  When I checked the Crash Reports before they went to Apple, each time (five crashes in the last 3 days) the cause was Intercheck.  I uninstalled SAV, re-downloaded the dmg from Sophos and reinstalled.  Waiting to see what develops....
