on access scanner is off

"your mac may not be secure". any suggestions on how to get this to remain on? Offline, I  removed program that would not allow me to change the on-access settilng, and opened the file. Then went back online and am updating. What am I missing? thanks.

  • I know this thread is a little old, but the same error has just started for me (Macbook Pro, Mountain Lion 10.8.2). Is there actually a fix, or should I just hope it resolves itself?

  • Same here. New MacBook Air, 10.8.2 and the on access scanner is switched off and can't be switched on. The old MBP with Lion still works.

  • Same problem here . . . now with 9.0.3

On access scanning stopped last night.

    Upgraded to 9.0.3

Rebooted several times. Deleted plist files.

    Still cannot turn on on-access scanning . . .

The "Start Scanning" button is NOT grayed out, but clicking on it does nothing and scanning is still off.

    Other solutions??

BTW, I remember this happening with version 8, and that somehow it got fixed, but I can't seem to make that happen in v9

  • Same problem here. I downloaded version 9 and it would not let me turn on on-access scanning.

    I'm running OS 10.6.8

Tried various combinations of reboots/removes/reloads/reinstalls to no avail.

The error log shows the following:

com.sophos.intercheck: Info: ic_worker_start: kext not found, attempting to load at 15:26 on 09 October 2013
    com.sophos.intercheck:
com.sophos.intercheck: Info: ic_worker_start: unable to load on access kext at 15:26 on 09 October 2013

I removed it all and re-downloaded/reinstalled version 8 and it had no complaints. I'd like to use the newest version though....

    Thanks.
