On-access scanning disabled

My on-access scanning is disabled. I am unable to make it come on and when I try to change a preference a window pops us saying that the "on-access scanner has failed to set preference"... Any suggestions?

    Same issue here.  I had to "force shut down" my Macbook Air (by holding the power button) due to some issues with other programs refusing to force quit.  As a result, my sophos not only won't scan but when I try to open the application is says "mising or incomplete".  I had to do a full uninstall/reinstall.  At least the uninstall link is easy to find in your applications.
