I've run into conflicts with the Inter-check process SEVERELY slowing down the process when I perform certain upgrades/updates. Because of this, I have automated the update process via shell script to happen in the middle of the night on a weekly basis. Since I am doing this via a script that must be run as root anyway, I thought I might just disable and re-enable the on-access scanning just prior and post. Is this possible?
I'm aware of the slight security risk, however, I trust the update source more than I trust the scanner's ability to catch everything anyway. :-)
