is Sophos working?

I have run several scans, but the "last scan run" message doesn't indicate that one has been run. Also, drop down says in order to run "all files" scan, admin password req'd, but it starts to run immediately without password.

    The main part of SAV runs all the time and doesn't require a manual scan -- this technology is called "on access" and is enabled by default.  If you have the black shield in your menu bar, you're protected as it will intercept every file access on your computer.

    Without the Admin password, SAV scans will only scan the portions of your computer accessible to the current user.  With the password, it will scan everything local (including removable drives, but not network shares).

    If the "last scan run" message doesn't indicate a full scan has completed, it is likely that your previous scans weren't "complete" either due to network shares or removable drives that were removed during the process.
