Can't update Mac Home AV or reinstall

I have had Sophos Mac Home AV installed for a long time but have recently moved to a new Macbook Pro and now it won't update. I have even tried reinstalling, no luck. I even used uninstall then reinstall but it did not work. I'm concerned because one of my other computers had a virus found by Sophos so I'm concerned that I do too.

Help please.

    I too have this problem. I am running OS X v10.8.5. Recently removed Sophos 8, updated to Sophos 9.0.1. Rebooted after new install. Gettiing error message: "Could not contact primary server. Authentication Error: 24 January 2014". Sophos 8 downloaded updates. What is a good solution?
