Protecting windows when using VMware Fusion

Hello, I have just installed anti-virus for Mac. I use VMware fusion to run Windows 7. Does this anti-virus program protect this as well or do I need to install another program to protect windows on my iMac?

  • It only scans filesystems mounted under the host OS.  This means that if you're sharing a filesystem between VMware Fusion and your host OS, it will be protected (against Windows malware as well).  If you are using a vmdk file or other drive image to host your Fusion instance and have not mounted it in the host filesystem, this will not be scanned.
