Checking Primary Server

Hello

The little shield in the tool bar has been showing the black arrow on and off and I am informed it is "Checking Primary Server".  This has been going on for about 3.5hrs. How long is this supposed to take?

    Rebooted. It started doing its thang again and then stopped.  Guess the good old fashioned re-boot is the silver bullet.  And the computer speed is back to where I like it- Internet was slow with the checking primary server palaver going on.  Thanks again!
