Sophos 9.0.7 - Web Protection - HTTP DELETE bug

OS: OSX 10.9.1

Browser: Chrome 32.0.1700.107 and FireFox 28.0

 

Sophos Version 9.0.7

Sophos Threat detection engine: 3.50.1

Sophos Threat data: 4.97

When "Web Protection" is enabled, and i send two HTTP DELETE requests the first one goes through fine, but the second one is left hanging. This is not related to caching, you can do this to any endpoint and it will still result in every other DELETE request hanging. (tested on localhost and on public websites)

Charles reports that both return a 200 and successfully finish.

Try it with "Web Protection" enabled, and with "Web Protection" disabled. 

Sophos is basically breaking quite a few modern websites that use REST API's...

    This problem is not specific to Mac. It occurs on windows machines also.

    I tried to use HTTPClient to validate few REST APIs. The second HTTPDelete request just hangs.

    Very annoying. To make things worse, my company's group policy settings does not allow us to disable web protection too.
