Sophos for Mac V9

Dear Sir

I am currently a user of the Free version of Sophos Anti Virus for Mac, I am using Version 8.0.22C of two Macs one running OS 10.6.8 and the other running 10.7.5. I have read that there will be no support for my version after April 2014, is this so?  If so will I be automatically upgarded to version 9 or do I have to install it myself?  I note that version 9 has additional support for web browsing, has this been tested against Safari and are there any known issues.  I had to replace Intego software with Sophos some ywo years ago as the Intego software caused problems with the Sandbox in Safari and stopped Safair working.  I don't want to repeat the experience!  I am not technically minded so tech free explanantions would be appreciated!

David

  • SAV v9 should work fine on both computers.  Version 9 does have the Web Protection feature so your web browser is protected along with your filesystem (hard drive).  However the configuration options are there to be controlled however you want.

I far as I'm aware (at the time of writing this) there won't be an automatic upgrade from 8 to 9 - the process will be manual.

I'd suggest downloading a copy of v9 onto one of the computers, running a scan and then trialing it for a week or two - make sure you're happy with it.
