  • I'm having exactly the same issue.

I'm using 9.0.11, threat detection engine 3.51.0, threat data 5.01. A colleague still using version 8.x does not observe the problem.

  • I can re-create this too.

I'll see what our team knows about the issue.

  • We've reproduced the issue but only on 9.0.  Tor is working just find on 9.1; though be warned that the nature of the Tor network and protocol prevents the web protection features from actually working within the Tor browser.

  • To clarify, "9.1" indicates a future update we are hard at work on.  Sorry for any confusion.

  • Running 9.0.11 and with the web protection turned on ALL webpages in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari are blocked.  When I turn off the protection features, I can browse fine.  Running Mac OS 10.9.3.

Are you running TOR?  This thread is about TOR.  If not I'd suggest starting a new thread as it'll be a different issue.

Note: There are other existing threads on video streaming not working or a particular site not working but not for all webpages being blocked.

  • Having the same problem -- APPEARS to have a connection, but cannot actually connect to anything.

Using OSX 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) on an old MacBook Pro, but with all current OS updates and running the latest TOR Bundle 3.6.2-MacOS. When I disable Sophos web protection Tor will work. This is a recent development and came with the new release of TOR.

I don't blame Sophos for the problem but I do wish you'd figure out how to keep web protection in place and work around TOR. Thanks.

  • I posted the issue on a different page before I found this thread which is more suited to the issue I have

    I am using a Mac OS10.6.8

Yesterday Sophos Anti-Virus updated to 9.0.11

Now whenever I use the internet (Safari) numerous request popups show to allow or disallow connections.

I have Little Snitch installed and those connection requests seem not to show anymore: the Little Snitch popups were far fewer than what now shows  as SophosWebIntelligence.bundle.

I am quite used to Little Snitch popups but somehow with SophosWebIntelligence.bundle. Google search has been blocked.

I checked the preferences and there is no list of allowed or denied connections like within little snitch.

The other issue is there are so many request popups for ever page now, some of which are confusing as to the origin or whether related to the page or not.

I have reset the 'Restore defaluts in the Sophos preferences, but still no access to Google search. With Web protection off Google loads fine.

The concept of SophosWebIntelligence.bundle. seems interesting but Little Snitch is far more easier to manage.
