Sophos AntiVirus Version 8 for Mac with software versions OS 10.4 and OS 10.5

I downloaded Version 8 because my iMac has OS X 10.4.11 software. However, after the download, I get the message: Open Failed Couldn't open "Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition.pkg". This package type requires OS X 10.5.

So I am stumped - what is the problem?

I have the same problem. Their website says the Sophos v8 is for Mac OS X10.4 & 10.5 but after downloading it will not open and says it is only for OS X 10.5. Either there is a problem with their download OR their website info is bogus. No way to know which except to ask Sophos. I made 3 separate phone calls to them to try to alert them and find out the truth - with absolutely zero results. They are useless.
In any event, the matter may not be worth trying to resolve further because the website also states Sophos v8 will be retired in April 2014. After that us users with non-Intel Macs will need to go to a new Mac (or a PC) in order to continue to use Sophos. And at that point I suggest also checking out AVAST.

Just to confirm - are you still planning to retire v8 for Mac OS X10.5 in April 2014?
