Problem with installing Sophos

I'm trying to install the updated Sophos Anti Virus on my mountain lion since my previous one was obsolete and would not update  anymore,

but although I removed every file I could possibly see as related to Sophos, when I try to reinstall I get the " This product is already installed. Please remove the existing installation, and run the installer again." response.

Any suggestions?

    Also having the exact same problem. I have been trying to figure out if there's an installer log or something that will give me more specifics on whatever the installer is checking, no dice yet. However, like Emetzl, I have done comprehensive searches for anything related to the old version on the hard drive and as best I can tell it's been completely obliterated from the disk.

    Where should I be looking for whatever hidden traces of the old version still allegedly lurking?
