Installation problem

Went thru the install ok, received confirmation that the install was succesfull. But the black shield icon is not on the menu bar or desktop.

So I am not sure it was installed.

I found it in the "Applications folder" double clicked and the icon appeared on the menu bar. We are AOK, and we are a new iMac user.
