Quitting

I selected Live Protection for Sophos Antivirus for Mac Home Edition in my iMac running OS 10.6.8, and it shows in the Force Quit window.  At irregular times it spontaneously disappears from the Force Quit window.  It reappears there when I open Sophos.

Has it quit?  How do I fix it?

    Might have to check Console for problems - but it won't be easy.

    • Maybe check you have all the latest Mac updates, upgrade to SAV 9 (if you're on SAV 8) or remove SAV 9 and install SAV 8 (if the problem started with SAV 9) - guessing
    • Reboot
    • Disk repair as mentioned here (don't take offence from the 'dummies' link :smileywink:)
    • Upgrade your RAM/ check it's seated OK
    • Consider this may not be SAV and Google the general problem programs appearing in the force quit window
    • Check Activity Monitor for any spike to see if it is SAV (and what component)
    • Go back to the Console.app (arrrgggghhh)
