Autoupdate hanging

After months of trouble free operation, autoupdate is hanging frequently. I have not changed any settings. The menubar shield and Autoupdate window show continuous activity which never completes, Version is 8.0.8c.

Is this a problem at the Sophos end or my end?

    Same problem here. I did an uninstall, a clean new installation (Os 10.8), but still having the same download error message. The download size reaches about 500 kb and then the process aborts.
