I have similar issues as some other people here. The menu bar is grayed, is says "On-access scanning not working" and there is no way that I know of to get it to be black. There are occasional messages on the screen to the effect that Sophos doesn't work The log file says, repeatedly, that com.sophos.intercheck: Fatal Error: Unable to initialise virus detection engine [0x00135240] Sophos Anti-Virus cannot continue I installed Mountain Lion about 2 months ago but this behavior regarding "On-access" appears only in the last few hours. I have deleted Sophos and then reinstalled it, with no changes. For me this problem is new but I see that other people see it for a couple of months. I wonder if there is a workaround.
