8.0.6c with MacOSX10.8.0 - cannot authenticate to make changes

I am unable to switch On-access Scanning on because when I try and click on the padlock labelled "Click the lock to make changes" all that happens is that the text flashes briefly and I do not get a dialog to authenticate. I have not been able to find any reference to this specific problem in any other post here. Nothing appears in the Console when I click the padlock icon.

  • Thanks very much - I had no way of knowing there was a new version! It's a shame that Sophos didn't push an update out to all users who had upgraded to Mountain Lion, or at least a notification that a new version was available. I assume that when Sophos checks for an update there must be some sort of a dialog regarding the OS version as well as the version of Sophos? if not, that seems to be a big oversight on their part.
