Sophos 'Unable to connect to Primary Server 'and threats detected!

Hi ,

I can't update Sophos online as it tells me I am 'unable to connect to Primary Sever'.When I looked at the anti-virus log it showed a corrupt file error and a threat detected at the same time as the primary server access went down, which seems like it would be linked! I ran a quarantine scan on the named file in my cache, but no threats came up...

Here is an abbreviated version of the log in case it sheds some light.....

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Many thanks

  • Have you contacted support about your issue?  "Unable to connect to Primary Server" is actually a significantly different issue on the Business product than it is on the Home product.  The servers are different, and they are different again if you're using SEC vs a stand-alone copy of SAV.  Support should be able to help you resolve the issue fairly quickly.

Issues with the home product tend to be a bit more complex, as they often have to do with the specific network hardware and configuration of that user, plus which distributed warehouse they are pulling their updates from.
