execute schedule when not logged into admin account.

Hey,

After testing the new schedule feature, I was disappointed to find that

schedules only execute when you are logged into your admin account

and without the main Sophos application running.

Is it possible to have a schedule execute so that you don't have to be

logged in?

  • Not sure, but I DO know that the entire thing is scriptable... so if you're logged in to a user account, you can set watch folders that will scan any file added to that folder.

Scheduled scans aren't really all that useful unless you run with modified on-access settings.  A first scan and on-access enabled is usually enough.

That said, I do the watch folder method.  You can schedule scans in this manner too, also using your user account.  You just won't be able to scan parts of your computer to which your user does not have access.

If you're feeling adventurous, SAV comes with a complete suite of command line tools as well, with lots of power user options in the help.  Type FBSweep into the terminal for more info.

  • Thanks for reply.

Funily enough i used to use the 'sweep' CLI before the schedule feature came out.

I was going to use the schedule feature to scan entire volumes with multiple users

but it looks like it ain't gonna happen. I'll check the new command out.

    Thanks.

  • Sorry... no new command; that was a typo on my part.  It's still sweep you have to use.
