Sophos Mac put in trash but can not reinstall

I could not update my sophos for Mac so I drag and dropped it in the trash can thinking I could  download the latest version , but now when i try to  download the latest version and install, a message comes up saying I have another version(which i put in the trash can) and this version is incompatible and I need to remove the version(which i put in the trash can), and thus i can not download sophos. Sophos no longer shows in my apps.

I have Mac os x 10.6.8. Can you help please

  • The general rule with Mac software is that if you drag a file to your Applications folder to install it, you can drag it to the trash to uninstall it.  If you have to run an installer, you'll need to run an uninstaller to fully remove it.

What you put in the trash was the graphical interface that allows you to run on-demand scans and view the quarantine.  The actual product is still running at the system level on your computer, including the command-line tools, the scanning engine, the quarantine manager, the update manager, the contextual menu item, the menu bar item, and the on-access scanner.  To uninstall the entire product, please run Sophos Remove.app which should be in your Applications folder.
