Recently, we installed Sophos Virus Removal Tool onto our desktop PC. It worked fine for a while. Then a week or so ago, it wouldn't open (i.e. the exe file wouldn’’’’t work) and we couldn’’’’t get it to open. So we decided to reinstall. During the installation, a box popped up saying: “Another version ….is already installed” etc. etc., and to uninstall it. But it won’’’’t uninstall. We have tried everything, (rebooting regularly): Windows Add/Remove Programs (wouldn’’’’t uninstall). Turned off Windows Firewall and all antivirus software. Then we manually deleted the Sophos files and folders from the relevant Program Files, then deleted every mention of Sophos from the registry, including this file (mentioned elsewhere on this forum):-
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Products\711E92...\SourceList\\LastUsedSource
No luck. The popup message is still coming up saying there’’’’s another version already installed.
Please advise what we can do to completely uninstall every bit of the SVRT, so we can start again and install it afresh. We have Win7 64 bit.
Thanks guys, if you can help.
