Once you have scanned, you need to go into the quarantine manager to clean unless you have "clean automatically" checked.  If cleanup fails, you will have to create a custom scan to remove the malicious file -- see one of the "Custom Scan" or "Manual Cleanup" threads on here if you find the included documentation unclear.
