VPN question

Hi all.

We use a vpn at work that checks if users have updated AV before we let them in to the network.

For Macs I require 2 pieces on information, a process name and the name of the pattern file/data file/update filename.

So if someone could provide me with the process name that the free home version of Sophos uses on the Macs also if you could also give me the name of the AV update file that get updated when a new update is availabe that would be great.

    Main App: "/Applications/Sophos Anti-Virus.app"

    Secondary App (for on-access): /Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/InterCheck.app

    Update files: /Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/IDE/

    and              /Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/VDL/

    You might be able to use /Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/VDL/svext.dat as your reference file.

    It's good to have the reminder re: editions. Where Darkstar (with only one post) works, someone is using a VPN; this is not necessarily Darkstar using the Home Edition of SAV at work; and the computer may be neither owned nor managed by the organisation. 

    This enquiry from Darkstar reminds me of  

    Check Point Endpoint Security On Demand 

    in which a non-Sophos product/service requires information about a Sophos product for the former to work correctly. 

    Also, 

    EULA should be clearer about prohibition

    Reading between the lines around Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition is for home use "requiring or recommending anti-malware protection for computers accessing their networks" I currently have the impression (forgive me if I'm wrong) that for users of the Home Edition, on a personal computer that is neither managed nor owned by an organisation, there's no guarantee from Sophos that this edition will work with products such as Check Point Endpoint Security or Endpoint Security On Demand. 

    Encouraging people who work from home (e.g. the self-employed) to invest in something greater than the Home Edition, for support purposes, is fine. However there will be occasional cases where an enquiry re: Home Edition is from an organisation that uses e.g. Endpoint Security, or a VPN; an organisation that (neither uses nor recommends Sophos) simply requires a person accessing the system to have approved and recognisable anti-virus software of any sort. 

    In far fewer words :smileywink: 

    this topic, and the other re: Check Point, may be about making the Home Edition of SAV recognisable.
