Macbook Pro OS X, v 10.6.5. sending out email messages to my address book contacts

that I didn't send.

Downloaded Sophos but . . . .it didn't recognize any viruses.  My email program won't let me send out a message because it says I've overused my limit of 500 outgoing messages; have to wait 24 hrs.!!  Does anyone have any idea what's happening?  Thank so much in advance.

  • I had the same issue, which is what led me to seek out Sophos in the first place.  The issue for me ended up being that my Gmail account had been hacked by a user in China.  Gmail now has a link at the bottom of your email window that allows you to view "recent activity," and it will show all locations from which your Gmail account has been accessed via login.  If there are locations show that do not match your recent activity, you've likely been hacked, too.  You should change your password immediately in that case.  I changed mine right away, and there have been no further issues.  I hope your fix is as simple and painless.
