I Like SOPHOS, but my keyboard got flakey.

First of all... I really like SOPHOS for Mac.  I was surprised when it reported it had detected viruses / malware files on my computer.... then on closer inspection I realized they were some windows malware scripts I had purposefully saved for study.  Indeed the software continued to detect "threats" coming into my mail.   Typical things that I know well enough to avoid...but I was happy SOPHOS was detecting them...proving itself quite capable.

Then I applied the latest Mac OS X software update....and found my USB keyboard would just quit working....frequently.  Unplug/Replug would get it back...for a while.   I noticed that the recent OS Update from Apple included some keyboard software updates.  Still having not had any problems with my system like this ever before...it had to be either the OS Update or SOPHOS. I had only installed those two things in the last few days.  Personally...I think it was the OS X update which set the problem in motion...  however...it's harder to remove an OS Update....so I uninstalled SOPHOS and the problem has disappeared.  If it stays "gone" for a day or two...I'll re-install SOPHOS to see if it comes back....perhaps  installing it AFTER the software update negates the problem.   Do you have any reason to believe SOPHOS could muck with my Keyboard?   I'm guessing it does scan "USB" drives etc.  And yes...the scan of my Time Machine Backup did find backups containing those virus samples I had.   I simply mounted my time machine volume and excluded it from scans.

This sort of behaviour with USB keyboards is rare, but not unknown. If you want better than "for a while", plug into a different port.

    Questions

    What model is your Mac?

What make and model is your keyboard?

Is the keyboard from the same era as your Mac?

    Etc..
