Can't uninstall - an "incompatible" version of Sophos Anti-Virus is already installed

I want to install the latest version of SAV. When I try to install it though, I get this message

Sophos Anti-Virus can’’’’t be installed on this computer.

Another version of Sophos anti-virus software, which is not compatible with this version, is already installed. You must remove that version before attempting installation again.

I cannot find the Remove Sophos Anti-Virus package in my application folders as others have suggested, nor is it in the library. I see it in my Settings Preferences, but I can't delete it from there.

The version came with my iMac, I've had it since 2006, so it hasn't been updated in a long time.

How can I uninstall my current version so I can install the latest.

  • when i try to run the pkg it tells me i already have sophos and i must try to remove it. i have looked through the library and cannot find sophos. i have tried deleting it and the icon and program remains. i try spotlighting it, and sophos will not show!

why did you make this so hard?! why can you not just provide us an uninstaller which we may download?
