Removing manually Mal/Iframe-AD

Hello,

sophos detected this threat today: Mal/Iframe-AD - i am supposed to remove it but when I open the quarantine manager and attempt to manually remove it, the option 'clean up threat' stays grey - how can I delete manually the virus?

    Since it's detecting a malicious iFrame, it is likely in an html file in your browser cache.  Clear your browser cache and it should vanish from Quarantine.

    Hi Andrew:

    Sophos AV for Mac just detected the same virus while I was Googling for some images. I flushed the browser cache and then scanned the indicated cache directory with Sophos AV or Mac to confirm the cleanup. "No threats detected" was the result.

    Good to hear :)

    This malware is usually used on SEO poisoned image searches; you click on the image and are tossed over to a page that will bring up a Fake Antivirus alert.  For a while, these were serving up MacDefender if you were on a Mac, but that operation was shut down by the authorities.  Right now, it only serves up Windows Fake Antivirus.
