No threats found

My Firefox browser is so full of viruses, but SAV didn't find anything after having checked 4 miljon items on my computer. The report it made efter several hours was just : No threats found. The problem is mostly that the bugs make links with popup windows with advertisements all over the sites that I visit. I also get one or more new windows in the backgrund opened every time I open a new window - with ads. What do I do?

  • Hello Lindahum,

this is presumably not a virus, let alone viruses, and while more than irritating likely not malicious (and therefore not a threat). It has probably settled in somewhere in your Firefox profile. You could try to create a new profile (it's not too complicated but please read carefully) and check if this is clean. If it is, then you can import your bookmarks and other data from the corrupted profile.

  • Hi,

I too am a home user, on windows 7...

I found Sophos on a site about getting rid of Mysearchdial Search, and so I downloaded and scanned..."No Threats found".

The "Mysearchdial Search"   is on my home page, I'M LOOKING AT IT RIGHT NOW!!!

Why the He ck  does the so recommended Sophos fail to find it???:robotmad:

This is my last hope before purging my laptop, and starting all over; or throwing it against the wall full force while swearing like the sailor I am.

I am not a computer savant, therefore, could you give me the simplest Possible solution?

    Thanks,

    The Shadowolf

  • Thank you for your reply! It was very helpful because it made me check my preferences in my other browser Safari, and there I found the malicious applications under "Tillägg" (it is Swedish - maybe it would be called add-ons or something in English) I erased them and I also uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it again, because my Safari still doesn't work well. Even though Firefox works now it would be truly nice to have Safari as well, but right now it is very slow and the whole computer hangs when I use it. Do you think that I should reinstall Safari too? It feels a bit strange because it actually was installed when I bought the computer... And I dont think I have a disc for it.
