Scanning Time Machine Drive

Attached to my iMac (running Mountain Lion 10.8.3) is a 4Tb USB drive which I use exclusively for Time Machine backups.  Is Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac able to scan this drive?

I ask this because I have been having problems with scans not finishing when I scan with the default "All Local Drives" setting. yet when I use customised scans to scan the Mac's hard drive and another permanently-attached USB drive (not the TM one) they run without problems.  This leads me to the conclusion that Sophos  may be running into problems when attempting to scan the TM drive, causing the default scan to fall over.

  • I've also experienced the same issue as wammer. I have a 2TB drive attached to my iMac (Mountain Lion 10.8.3) and the scan all local drives option never finishes but a scan of just the mac is fine. I created a scan of just the back up folder (I also use the drive to store RAW photo files) and this quit when about half way through.

    Any advice would be appreciated.
