Help! Today I have suddenly been bombarded with threat warnings and items showing up in the quarantine manager. This has scared the h--l out of me. The latest threats quarantined totaled 202 separate line items for Virus Spyware VBS NewLove-a. Previous threats were for the Troj/tdlmbr-b-m virus.
I then tried to clean these out through the Quarantine Manager, however every line item threat was noted as "Clean up Manually" under the Actions Available column. I attempted a couple of manual cleanups but to no avail and don't know if I was doing it correctly. The "Clean up" action was greyed out on the threats so attempted to clean up manually but was unable to do so.
The threats all seem to be Windows specific as I can find no references to them for Mac OSX and the Sophos site also refers to Windows.
Now interestingly enough, for some reason when I open the Quarantine Manager all these threats have disappeared with no action on my part.
I am concerned that I either have a couple of nasty viruses now or that for some reason Sophos is alerting me to Windows virus for some reason.
I am running 1TB iMac with OSX 10.8.4 operating system. I have Microsoft Office 2008 installed (with all current updates) but only Word and Excel activated. The only other programs installed are Adobe Lightroom 3, iBank, and CCleaner. My browser of choice is Firefox 23.0.
I am definitely not a techie so hope someone can help as this really has me concerned.
Thanks.
