Message - "Sophos is not running"

I've just downloaded Sophos (yesterday) and commenced the scan. It keeps stopping part way through with the above message, the 2nd time when it was about 98% completed after 4 hours!!!! I've had to start again. What could be causing this? I am using a MacBook and have Mountain Lion, and using OS X 10.8.2 (12C60).

  • Same problem here.

    First time, ran OK for a couple hours then it seemed to die ... over 3 hrs it didn't change file counts, so I killed it.

    Then I turned off two external HDs and tried again. I come back later and it says it didn't complete.

    I check the log, I see no errors of any sort, nor do I see any message re completion.

    I ran it again as a custom scan with the same result.

    I've been told I've a trojan, but it's either on one of the external HDs, or else Sophos can't find it.

    Without a clean end, I can't trust what Sophos is reporting.
