Transition to Endpoint Security

Hello and Greetings to Sophos team,

I'm using Sophos Home Edition for my Macbook Pro for past couples of months, recently I have upgraded to Version 8 which also runs smoothly. Now, my university computer department told me that I can also use the Endpoint Security for MAC (I mean the paid version of Sophos) if I like. So, I would like to ask your team

1. Do I need to uninstall Home edition first in order to install the university version?

2. The Home edition collects its updates via Sophos server (login Id and some invisible password); if I change the server location to university server will that work?

3. Is there any additional benefit that I can expect if I make this transition?

Please post your comments.

Best wishes

  • I think the free edition collects/waits for user feedbacks

I wouldn't insinuate this :smileyvery-happy:. Existing users of SAV for Mac HE also won't be upgraded to 8.0 before May. Won't call 8.0 unstable, and some issues are more likely to surface in one environment than the other (i.e. corporate vs. home use). And - paying customers are aware of the "dangers" of a new version. It's also policy that current production versions are not automatically "replaced" but are available "in parallel". Furthermore - there are several more product updates in the pipe or already released but of course I can't say what Sophos announces when and why they do so :smileywink:.
