Transition to Endpoint Security

Hello and Greetings to Sophos team,

I'm using Sophos Home Edition for my Macbook Pro for past couples of months, recently I have upgraded to Version 8 which also runs smoothly. Now, my university computer department told me that I can also use the Endpoint Security for MAC (I mean the paid version of Sophos) if I like. So, I would like to ask your team

1. Do I need to uninstall Home edition first in order to install the university version?

2. The Home edition collects its updates via Sophos server (login Id and some invisible password); if I change the server location to university server will that work?

3. Is there any additional benefit that I can expect if I make this transition?

Please post your comments.

Best wishes

  • Version 8 is out now for customers (but AFAIK there hasn't been an official announcement yet). Subscriptions are not automatically upgraded to a higher version though (until the "old" version is nearing retirement at least). This has various reasons. Thus the university must explicitly select version 8 but can do so any time.
