Transition to Endpoint Security

Hello and Greetings to Sophos team,

I'm using Sophos Home Edition for my Macbook Pro for past couples of months, recently I have upgraded to Version 8 which also runs smoothly. Now, my university computer department told me that I can also use the Endpoint Security for MAC (I mean the paid version of Sophos) if I like. So, I would like to ask your team

1. Do I need to uninstall Home edition first in order to install the university version?

2. The Home edition collects its updates via Sophos server (login Id and some invisible password); if I change the server location to university server will that work?

3. Is there any additional benefit that I can expect if I make this transition?

Please post your comments.

Best wishes

  • Hi Christian,

    Thanks for your post.

I agree with your points. I checked my university server, the Sophos installation file is still some old 7 version, and I'm not sure if my university has received ver 8.

Well, I can wait till someone from Sophos tells when they are going to rollout ver 8 to paid private servers.
