"No application to open the account"

Looked through first 6 pages in free talk and did not find anything on my issue where-by my Macbook states it can't open my recent

sophos free download because there is no application to open it with. Thanks for any help.

There is a thread prior to the last 6 pages, but I don't expect you to hunt for it.
What version of OS X are you using? Most previous reports of this were from people using 10.4, who mysteriously had Apple's Installer.app missing from their OS. Other possibilities include having Disk Utility missing, or your download being incomplete (whereby instead of having a proper .dmg file downloaded, you end up with a partial file (it'll have a Safari document icon if you've downloaded it with Safari, or a .part extension if you used Firefox).
