Browser used to server

So about my last post i'm waiting for a reply but i have noted that when i go to a site my Browser used

tellls the server about the browser why dose apple safari say so much about it :? 

even know i don't use Mozilla LOL but can i turn it off

  • Part of the HTTP protocol involves your web browser sending its "user agent string" to the server as part of establishing the connection.  The user agent string is the line you've pasted.  With JavaScript enabled (it is by default in Safari), a remote site can also use javascript to query further details about your computer.

    Personally, I only use Safari on known-safe sites, and do my general browsing using Firefox with the noscript, TACO/Albine and adblock plugins installed.

    You can't turn off your user agent string, but if you enable the debug version of Safari (type "defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1" in a terminal window) you can "spoof" a number of common user agent strings.
