Is a Trojan stopping Sophos running full scan?

I'd say this has to do with caching files from an IMAP server -- best bet is to log in to gmail via the web interface and delete the files.  Of course, due to the fact that these are redirect javascripts, you may also want to turn off the preview pane in Mail (or quit mail.app) before cleaning, as the files are likely currently locked by Mail.app.

Thanks Andrew-I have actually done this and it does seem to have cleared up the virus issue though I havent run a full scan since so still unsure if the problems were linked

I tell a lie the same virus has now made a reaappearance in my Time Machine and I have been told by Sophos that it cant be cleaned up automatically so am running a Custom Scan...my only worry is that, once again, the system will hang as has happened before...

Help anyone?

The system shouldn't hang; we now prevent you from cleaning up TM archives instead.  To remove this, you should be able to navigate to the file location in Time Machine, right click on the file and remove all backups.

OK in the event the system cleaned the file up after saying it couldnt initially. I dont think that this is the last that I have heard. If it reappears I will indeed navigate to the file as you have suggested and clean it up like that

Ok a different iteration of the file has now appeared

The problem that I am having is how do I 'navigate' to the address of the Trojan in my TM as you advise when copying and pasting the address doesnt find anything in Finder and I cant seem to use 'Look up' for the job either?

Really getting frustrated with this now so any help appreciated

1. copy one of those threat paths by selecting it and pressing command-c
2. navigate to the Finder and press command-shift-g
3. press command-v
4. click go
5. A Finder window should open with the file visible
6. Enter Time Machine
7. right-click on the file and select "Delete all backups"

That should do it!

Ok I got as far as finding the file using the proscribed method but how do I then enter TM as you describe it?

Presumably I need to keep the same file in the window|? How do I do that AND enter TM? 

I found 1 of the offending files and tried to just delet it but was told I couldnt because it's a back up file and cant be modified :manmad:

When you go to the Time Machine menu item in the Finder and select "Enter Time Machine," it automatically navigates to the frontmost finder window.

I'm absolutely stumped Andrew

When I click on Finder I see the following:

If I click on the TM icon it just takes me to the 1st Backups file.

I am not sure by what process I can 'enter' the TM
