Malware NOT detected by Sophos

Hy there guys,

I am using for 1-2 weeks your Mac Sophos antivirus and I'm constantly updating it.

Today I wanted to visit www.macys.com got pop up  like this: http://cl.ly/1W0y213F1i1a1S2s2n20

I don't know why, but I think there's a malware in my mac. I did a scan even 1-2 days ago... so do you have any idea about this? Why I got a pop-up like that?

System: macbook pro

Browser: Chrome (latest version, updated)

  • Out of curiosity, I looked up promo-rewardcentral . com -- the domain is hosted by Power Brand Center Corp, a domain registrar in Panama and its registration info is being held by an anonymizing proxy company.  The domain has been registered for one year.

This is the standard MO of underhanded marketers and spammers, but not usually malware gangs -- because it involves actually paying money and registering domains that can eventually be traced back to you.

As SAV does not block ads, this kind of popup is to be expected if you aren't using an ad-blocker.
