Malware NOT detected by Sophos

Hy there guys,

I am using for 1-2 weeks your Mac Sophos antivirus and I'm constantly updating it.

Today I wanted to visit www.macys.com got pop up  like this: http://cl.ly/1W0y213F1i1a1S2s2n20

I don't know why, but I think there's a malware in my mac. I did a scan even 1-2 days ago... so do you have any idea about this? Why I got a pop-up like that?

System: macbook pro

Browser: Chrome (latest version, updated)

  • Out of curiosity, what route did you take to get to Macy's?  Did you enter www.macys.com in your URL bar, or type Macy's into google?  If it's the second, you're the victim of SEO poisoning -- the link you clicked on likely wasn't actually for Macy's.

As far as I know, there are currently no pieces of malware for the Mac that pop up ads like that.  There are, however, lots of websites that have ad popups like that, plus the SEO poison pages I mentioned.
