How to re-install Sophos?

Hi everybody,

after installing OS X Lion on my mac book, Sophos finds errors and stops scanning local drives. Updating was not possible.

I tried to uninstall it simply by putting the file into the trash bin as the menue did not offer anything else.

Now the latest Sophos versions detects an older software which needs to be uninstalled before I can install the new version.

How do I get the old version completely uninstalled?

Thanks for the help!

Jochen

  • Please read the first few pages of comments on the link I provided, which is sticky-posted at the top of the forum for this reason.  You need to run the appropriate uninstaller (likely the one for the enterprise product) and then install the free product.  The majority of the software does not reside in the Applications folder, as runtime antivirus software hooks into the operating system kernel and monitors file operations, among other things.
