Case-sensitive filesystems on Mac OS X

Hi everyone,

Are you using one? If you don't know, the answer is probably no (it requires reformatting your drive, choosing a non-default format type, and reinstalling all of OS X).

If you are, I'd like to know about it because we are considering dropping the testing for such a thing. Also, don't ugrade to version 9 yet.

  • If you are or not, how do you know?

    Open Terminal from Spotlight...

    ...and then type this...

diskutil info /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD | grep 'User Visible'

FYI: You may have to change the 'Macintosh\ HD' bit if your drive is called something different.

If you see the words 'case sensitive' it is.  Else it's not.  Right?
