Can a separte antivirus/spam be installed for bootcamp on mac?

Just started this running...up to 60 threats already on my mac. I had harddrive replaced on this Imac about a year ago. Owned this computer 2yrs...brand new. When bootcamp/pc was reinstalled, it would not let me put Nortan or McCaffee or anything back in, it wouldn't finish download...don't know why. Now that I have this, if I retry in bootcamp now, will this interfere with that? Do I need both? I know it is partitioned, but from what I understand, a virus is not known where it will land on hardware. ? Best adivice? Tx.

  • The rule is not to have to AV products running at the same time; since BootCamp involves booting to one OS or the other, you can have (and should have) AV installed on both.  Otherwise, you aren't getting real-time protection when you're running BootCamp.
