  • Those instructions in this thread that refer to the Application Support folder are for removing SAV for Mac Enterprise Edition to install SAV HE.  To uninstall SAV HE, run the "Sophos Remove.app" application located in your /Applications folder right next to the "Sophos Antivirus.app" application.

For your other issue, "su -" requires the root credentials of your computer.  OS X does not have a root user by default; you would need to create one, and should only do this if you are an advanced user.  the "sudo" command accomplishes the same thing on a per-command basis, uses your administrator user's username and password, and is the recommended way of accommplishing administrator tasks on OS X.

If you've been talking to Sophos Technical Support, I presume you have a support contract for the Enterprise version?  The Home Edition is not the same product as the Enterprise version, which could be where you are having difficulties (the instructions you've been given by Sophos Technical Support are all for the Enterprise version -- they don't support the Home Edition; that is done on these forums).
