A few questions,

Does sophos for mac (home edition) find rootkits, worms, exploits, keyloggers and other forms of malware(ex: virus, trojan etc.)?

Also when I do a local drives scan, will it scan for malware in its database only or will it also check to see what it/the item does/preforms and figure out if it is malicious or not?

Edit: Forgot to metion, I visited a site that apparently started giving me spam on my email. The spam was about buying World of warcraft and diablo 3 gold for real life money. Apparently, my brother also got this spam when he went on his email. Is it normal for spam to be given like that even though my brother never visited that site?

  • Just some mroe information: I have one contact and that contact is my brother if that effects in anyway. Also when I logged in my email(gmail) it said that someone else was on my account. The only weird thing was that it was the same ip adress as my home/computer but i didnt even have any other browser left on my gmail. Was this just a glitch or? I clicked log out all other sessions and then it dissapeared but i was still on so I dont think it was just showing me being on?

  • I never heard about sophos so I am not sure if it can detect rootkits, worms, exploits, keyloggers and other forms of malware. Take keylogger for example, My norton didn't pop-up warning or detect threat while I downloaded and installed the trial version of Myjad Keylogger. So I searched for other anti keylogger sofftware for solution but it seemed yet not performing that good. You don't need to worry about the spam mails cause I got A LOT these junk mails everyday. Those people get your information from various approaches without you logging  in or visiting their websites. So no need to worry about the spam mails.
