Update not working

"Could not contact primary server" message received upon update attempts (both auto & manual) since computer start up 2 Dec 2010.

Auto update preferences panel, even upon unlocking, is grayed out on primary location, user name, password, & use secondary location (which I had left unchecked).

I have had this free Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac about a month.

Mac 10.4.11 on iMac

Thanks for any help.

  • Hello nbob651,

If you are able to set the update server and user credentials, then you are using the SAV for Mac Enterprise edition.  For help with this version of SAV, please contact customer support via telephone or e-mail.  If you installed this product as a trial by accident when you meant to install the Home Edition (which this forum supports), you will need to run the uninstaller (use the uninstaller in the /Library/Sophos Anti-Virus/ folder, not the one in the /Applications/ folder, which won't exist for you) and then download and install the Home Edition.
