This scan has never been run.

I installed Sophos Anti-Virus in the wee hours this morning and clicked the "Scan all files and folders on this Mac." The software began to index the files on my iMac and I went back to bed. This morning, though, the Sophos dialog box still states, "This scan has never been run" beneath the "Scan all files and folders on this Mac." I opened the log and I can't tell if the computer was scanned or not (prefs are set to "log only" if threat detected). How in the world can I tell if the scan was successfully completed? Quarantine Manager has nothing in it. If I understand correctly, it won't if you have "log only" checked. Is that correct?

I appreciate any input. Thanks.

  • BTW, I forgot to mention that I wasn't aware of problems that have occurred if you had a Windoze Boot Camp partition, so I did NOT exclude that on my scan last night, though I have excluded it now in the prefs.

  • OK. Since I last posted, I went back to the admin account that I had been running Sophos and it still states "has not been run" (referring to the bootcamp volume perhaps?), but below that is states "scan complete; no threats found." I wonder if the software was still scanning in the background and I just couldn't tell it hadn't completed? Or did it "complete" after I excluded the BootCamp partition? Does it not show a progress bar on a disc or volume scan? Thanks again for any insight.
