Sophos for Mac Tiger PPC

I am running Tiger 10.4.11 on both an iMac G4/800 + an iMac G5, 1.9, 17" iSight PPC computer. The feeling in the iMac PPC community is that Sophos + other anti virus software is completely unnecessary for the PPC architecture, that only Intel iMacs are vulnerable to viruses, spyware, malware, worms etc. Is this true? I have been running Sophos for Mac Free Edition since it came out, am very thankful to Sophos for supplying this software especially to us Tiger users. But the question exists, am I protecting my computer against a threat that can never impact my computers? Shall I continue to run Sophos? Thanks, Ken.

  • Thanks Andrew. After checking your link, what I am assuming is that to be ABSOLUTELY SAFE, I ought to continue running Sophos even though most of the threats only affect Intel Macs. Threats will only continue to increase, I gather, even in the PPC architecture. Can you please confirm this for me. Thanks, Ken.
